Patient: Tilly 9 year old welsh cob mare
Condition: Severe chronic laminitis
Treatment: Imprint support shoeing
Case Study
Brief history
Tilly suffered acute laminitis in March 07 while approximately 8 months pregnant.
Her hind feet were the most severely affected, extensive infections in both feet meant she spent 12 weeks on a wood shaving bed, much of the time recumbent. Sadly the foal died at birth. The feet were X rayed in June 07. Euthanasia was considered. Despite some pedal bone damage, the mare made a full recovery and is now riding and driving.
