Case Study – Colt Foal Fetlock Varus

Patient: Colt foal 7 weeks old

Condition: Fetlock varus both fore limbs

Treatment: Extension and graduation created from Imprint Hoof Repair

7 week old foal fetlock varus. Lateral extensions required L and R.

RF fetlock varus.hoof trimmed

RF lateral wall keyed for strong attachment

Adhesive applied to extension area including lateral sole

Imprint Hoof Repair plastic moulded to create custom extension.

Freeze hardened then allowed to weight bear.

Solar aspect of lateral extension.
Concavity is maintained.

Screw is for grip.

Imprint Extension beginning to bring limb into alignment.

Extensions at 3 weeks.

Retrimmed and new extensions
fitted at 3 weeks.
